3 Ingredients Easy Flatbread

This is a quick and easy recipe for pan baked flatbread, made with only flour, salt and water. There is nothing like fresh bread, especially when you know exactly what it’s made off. You don’t need to be a renowned baker or acquire a fancy bread maker for these. All you need is a dry pan and your hands. Soft, crispy and great with most soups, stews and sauces. I served them with vegetarian sage and yogurt curry lentils (click here for recipe) and it was just delicious. Sweet or savoury, these flatbread are great sides to most dishes; I can imagine them with chocolate or Crème anglaise (custard) and fresh fruits. What a great dessert that would make.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/3 cup water

Instructions
 

  • Pour the flour and salt in a bowl, stir in water until it clumps up together to form a rough dough.
  • Sprinkle heavily some flour unto a clean work surface, place the dough and knead until smooth.
  • Cut the dough into half and cut each half into 3 (Altogether 6 small pieces of dough)
  • Take each piece and mould into a ball with your hands, then flatten the round dough unto a floured surface.
  • Using a rolling-pin, roll out the dough really thin (as thin as you can get, but should be able to lift it up).
  • Heat up a dry pan on high heat until it's hot, then reduce to medium heat and place the flat dough on the hot pan. 
  • The flatbread will puff up into large air pockets, flip unto the other side after 2 minutes, the cook for another 2 minutes.
  • It's perfectly fine for the flatbread to have several dark charred spots.
  • Repeat for the remaining pieces of dough and your stack of flatbread is ready.
  • Serve with you favourite soup or stew, beans or lentils; or with chocolate spread and fruits.

    Wow! That looks super easy but really delicious, too. I think I’ll try to make it with my daughter this week– would go great with a salads & dips night on the menu.
